What does SMA Accreditation mean to
you?
NA: It is an honor to receive SMA
Accreditation. It highlights Surrey's com-
mitment to its urban forest and it recog-
nizes the many years of achievements,
high standards, and leadership carried
out by Surrey's dedicated and skilled
urban forestry team. The award was
presented to the City at a recent Council
meeting. It was very well received by
Surrey's mayor and Council and serves to
strengthen the importance of trees and
forests in Surrey.
What gives you extra pride about your
city forestry program, and how do you
operate?
NA: I am particularly proud of our team
of enthusiastic and committed urban
forestry professionals. We are a large,
fast-growing city with a full complement
of specialized urban forestry staff, divid-
ed into functional groups for shade tree
