1. Remove the rear tires and spare.
2. Drain oil from differential case.
3. If you have a magnetic drain plug and
you're replacing a failed or broken diff,
look for shards of metal on the drain

4. Remove the rear diff cover, scrape
off the old gasket and clean the insides
thoroughly. (B) After wiping down
the inside of the diff case, Dave sprayed
a generous amount of brake cleaner
throughout the assembly to displace any
lingering oil or contamination.

5. Unbolt the axle shaft face plate at the wheels and pull out
the axle shaft on both sides to disengage. (C)
