The largest field ever – 147 play- ers – particpated in the annual event. For all the cama- raderie and fun it offers, the tourna- ment also serves as the largest fundraiser for the chapter. A check in the amount of $5,000 was presented to Steven Bias, chair of the American Fence Association Educa- tion Foundation (AFAEF) for contin- ued support of AFAEF scholarships to individuals seeking higher learning opportunities. And this year MTSFA presented a check in the amount of $5,000 to the 9th annual St. Jude Archery Shoot as a Presenting Sponsor of the event, held in Poplar Bluff, Mo. (southeast Mo.). Last year this outstanding or- ganization raised $125,000 for the St. Jude Children's hospital in Memphis. The 2019 shoot will be Saturday, Au- gust 10. The MTSFA Friday practice round had 101 players. "The Friday night reception, hosted by Stateside Steel and Wire, was an outstanding event and well attended as usual," reported MTS- FA secretary/treasurer Phillip Doyle. "We want to send a tremendous thank you to Mr. Benny (Wallace) and Tom Cunningham and his crew for a won- derful evening."
