How do you explain the Galvin Green identity? I believe that our mission statement, "We Never Compromise", is more a state of mind than just a pay-off for a brand. It is our promise and commitment to our customers and consumers to strive for perfection with every new collection. How did the brand get into golf? In the early '80s the company was searching for its identity. We had one high-end technical brand for skiing and another for casual wear, such as leather jackets and jeans. We found the technical skiing side of things far more interesting and decided to use our knowledge from skiing and transfer it to golf. I had started playing golf a few years earlier and the founder of the company, Tomas Nilsson, was a long time player – the sport was also up and coming in Sweden where we are based. As our personal passion for the game became stronger, we focused more and more energy on the Galvin Green brand in product development, design and function. Therefore we can proudly state that we are, "by golfers, for golfers". Why is GORE-TEX fabric key for Galvin Green? Our GORE-TEX rain suits and outerwear are designed for comfort and to keep you dry. I actually enjoy playing golf in the rain or in cooler temperatures where I can suit up. GORE-TEX is a truly amazing fabric not only is it totally waterproof it also allows for maximum breathability that releases excess moisture and heat so you are dry inside and out. It's guaranteed to keep you dry and at the same time it's extremely durable and hard-wearing, soft and smooth to touch, provides maximum freedom in movement, including a four-way stretch material in some garments and is easy to maintain in a regular washer and dryer. What else defines Galvin Green products? During the first few years we did what everyone else was doing - quite bland, navy blue and black waterproofs. Quickly we learned that if we were to have a chance to succeed we had to get noticed by offering something extra. With this in mind we started producing bright yellow, bright orange and green rain suits. It worked very well for us though and the consumer began to recognise us because of the standout colours. Then we started to focus on becoming experts in producing clothing you could really feel comfortable playing golf in. Compared Continued On Next Page 15
