In announcing the sale, Robbie Radant, 7-Eleven vice president of mergers and acquisitions, said, "There are some terrific properties in this package that simply don't fit 7-Eleven's business model. All of these stores were part of the more than 1,000 sites we've acquired in the past three years and should provide great opportunities for the right buyers." Lot sizes range from approximately 10,000 to 75,000 square feet, while store sizes range from kiosks to 6,700 square feet. One hundred and eighteen of the sites being offered are fee-owned properties and the remaining 21 are leaseholds. All sites are being sold without 7-Eleven branding. Most sites are being offered for sale with fuel supply, which will be provided by SEI Fuels, Inc. The properties will be sold using NRC's well-known "buy one, some or all" sealed-bid sale process. It is anticipated that the sale will be launched on April 24, when additional details about all properties will be available on the NRC website, and a brochure will be available for download. Property Specific Packages (PSP) are expected to be available in mid to late May, with a bid deadline of June 27, 2013. In a further expansion of the two companies' efforts to cooperatively target merchant needs, WorldPay will also offer a secure audio card-reader version of VeriFone's PAYware Mobile for small merchant mobile payments using smartphones, tablets and other smart devices. The VX 520, a member of the VX Evolution family and one of the most advanced countertop payment device available, supports VeriShield Total Protect for end-to-end encryption and tokenization. Merchants can rest assured that their investment is secure with future-proof technology including EMV and NFC capabilities and PCI PTS certification. WorldPay is also in process of certifying compatibility of the VX 805 and VX 820 PIN pads and wireless VX 680, which like the VX 520 offer contactless and smart card payment acceptance capabilities that are crucial to emerging NFC wallet technology and EMV compliance. VeriFone's VX Evolution is designed to take advantage of the newest technologies, while fully leveraging the company's proven VX platform that has powered merchant payments over the past decade. n Heating oil stalwart dies Donald Paul Hunziker died on Monday, April 22, in Williamsburg, Va. Born on Sept. 4, 1921, in Golden, Ill., Don was one of eight children of Professor and Mrs. John F. Hunziker. He met his future wife of 54 years, the former Alice Boldon, while serving in the CCC in Sparta, Wis. Alice predeceased him in 1995. He is survived by their three sons, Donald Lee (Karen), Robert Paul (Joan) and David, five grandchildren, Richard (Gina), Michael and Michelle, Sean and Matthew (Sara), two great granddaughters, Cory and Madison, and two great, great grandchildren, Seth and Eliza Lynn. He is also survived by his brother, Floyd, of Michigan. Hunziker served in the Army infantry in World War II as a Tech. Sgt. and remained in the Army Reserve postwar, retiring with the rank of Major. He was on the military staff of the Governor of Iowa with the rank of Colonel. While living in the Midwest, he served as president of Jaycees in Wisconsin and Iowa; county chairman of the Republican Party in Iowa, and past master of a Masonic Lodge in Wisconsin. He received the Distinguished Service Award as the Outstanding Young Man in the state of Iowa and was nominated for "10 Outstanding Young Men" in the United States. Hunziker began his 36 year career with Mobil Oil Corporation as a truck driver, retiring in 1980 as Heating Oil Marketing Manager for the U.S. Division. He served as Chairman of the American Petroleum Institute (Wisconsin Division), and was involved with the Empire State Petroleum Association and the New England Fuel Institute. In 1980 he formed Petroleum Consultants, Inc. Over the course of 43 years in New Canaan, he served as a commissioner on the Planning & Zoning Commission, president of the Senior Men's Club, cochairman of the Board of Directors of Visiting Nurse and Hospice of Fairfield County, president of the Fund for New Canaan, member of the Poinsettia Club, president of Mobil Retiree Club of Connecticut, and various committees for the Methodist Church, including the Church Council and the Staff Parish Committees. He nourished a lifelong love of family & friends, fishing and hunting, and service to God, country and community. He will be greatly missed by many.
