The PDI Supplier Portal, which is powered through Harmony by iControl™, will enable convenience retailers and their suppliers to exchange pricebook item, cost, promotion, and invoice information in real time. PDI president Greg Gilkerson says his company is excited about the new business relationship and its potential impact on the industry. "Automating the exchange of information between retailers and Direct Store Delivery (DSD) suppliers is one of the last great hurdles to Doing Business Electronically. We are proud to work with iControl to deliver this powerful solution to our customers and eventually, the entire convenience store industry." In addition to performing pricebook synchronization functions, the PDI Supplier Portal will handle regulated payments for alcohol purchases, allowing retailers and suppliers to transact business while maintaining full compliance with state and federal regulations. The cutting-edge SaaS technology also facilitates scan based trading (SBT), which minimizes vendor check-in labor and uses data to collaboratively reduce shrink and increase sales by improving inventory stock positions. During the two-day conference, PDI also unveiled a much anticipated addition to its core software offering. As the newest suite in PDI/Enterprise, PDI/ Workforce will help supervisors improve productivity and efficiency through effective time and labor management. PDI/Time Clock, the first completed module in the suite, is already fully operational in several companies. Daktronics (Brookings, S.D.) recently integrated their point-of-sale interface system to connect with Wayne, A GE Business, and a global innovator of fuel dispensers and technologies. A point-of-sale system, or POS, controls the price of all items in a convenience store or gas station, including the price of petroleum products at the pump. With the appropriate interface, it also easily controls Daktronics petroleum LED price digits. "Wayne designs and develops innovative forecourt technology solutions to help meet customers' needs," says Alicia High, Wayne marketing communications manager. "By certifying the Daktronics electronic price sign with the Wayne Nucleus™ point-ofsale (POS) system, our customers have more price sign options from which to choose—this is a tremendous benefit to c-store owners." Since 2004, Daktronics POS interface has provided store owners with the convenience of changing fuel price from one indoor location. Once updated on the POS console, the fuel pumps and LED petroleum price display will update at the same time. Beyond Wayne, Daktronics POS interface system is also compatible with VeriFone, Radiant Systems, and Allied Electronics Inc. "Daktronics POS interface system captures fuel profit margins during peak, volatility periods," says Vic Wenner, Daktronics national accounts regional manager. "Store owners will benefit with less labor intensive price changing methods, since the prices on the Daktronics display and the prices at the pumps will all adjust at once." In addition to LED price digits, the industry also uses LED message centers to increase in-store traffic. 10 MAY/June 2013 petroleum POS integration capabilities with Wayne The new white paper, Effectiveness of Digital Displays for the C-Store Industry, explains how a message center converts pumpers into shoppers. n CITGO introduces TriCLEAN gasoline with more nitrogen cleaning agents Maximizing engine performance and drivability are two key benefits of an enhanced gasoline recently introduced by CITGO Petroleum Corporation (Houston). Known as TriCLEAN gasoline, this custom blend includes more nitrogen cleaning agents to keep vital engine parts clean for a smoother running engine that maximizes mileage and minimizes emissions.
