Fleet News Penske adds 500 Freightliners to rental fleet Penske Truck Rental added 500 new Freightliner tractors to its commercial truck rental fleet, all featuring Eaton's UltraShift Plus MHP automated transmission. The transmission uses an electronic clutch actuator designed to provide faster shifting and smoother engagement and to engage the clutch at idle, giving the driver control in challenging situations. Penske provides sleeper and daycab tractors, straight trucks, flatbeds, refrigerated vans and dry van trailers. The competition was based on drivers' length of service, safety and driving records and customer service: Robert Moe, Steve Millang, James Yarbary, Benny Baca, Robby Stark, Bill Lindsey, James Belk, Mark Goforth, Allen McClary, Christopher Pritchett, Joe Brown, Ruben Gomez, Larry Druckamiller and Bryan Holland. Lowe's named Southeastern Freight Lines its Platinum Carrier of the Year, the home improvement retailer's highest award. This is the sixth consecutive year the less-than-truckload company has received the award from Lowe's, which names the winner based on meeting four primary objectives, including ontime and claim-free deliveries. C.H. Robinson was named the Truckload/IMC Carrier of the Year by Sharp Electronics Corp. The award is data-centric and based upon quantitative data of four key performance factors: on-time pickup and delivery, EDI transactions, load acceptance and invoice accuracy. To be eligible for the award, an organization must achieve an overall top score in its performance metrics, as well as through results achieved. 68 | Overdrive | July 2013 Fleet_News_0713.indd 68 6/27/13 10:50 PM
