NUTS AND BOLTS NEWS Case Announces CX130C and CX160C Excavators with Greater Fuel Efficiency Fuel efficiency and easier maintenance were the names of the game when it came to designing Case's new CX130C and CX160C excavators. The company says it has worked to optimize the hydraulics system on the new machines to make them more powerful and efficient. Plus, they should be easier to transport and store securely. The CX130C boasts 100 horsepower, while the CX160C has 124 horsepower. Both machines are powered by Tier 4 Interim engines and have improved lift capacities: the CX130C has improved by four percent, while the CX160C has improved by two percent. The CX160C also reduces cycle times by three percent. The new excavators have three power modes that allow the operator to tailor performance to the job at hand: SP (speed priority), H (heavy duty) and A (automatic). The machines also feature Boom Economy Control, which lowers engine rpms during boom down and swing, and Auto Economy Control, which lowers rpms when the joysticks are inactive. Case says both new machines were designed to perform for 500 hours between oil changes, 5,000 hours between hydraulic oil changes and 1,000 hours between greasing. The machines feature easily accessible panels for easyto-reach service points, including an air filter and fuse box in the cab. Speaking of the cab, Case has also spent considerable time improving operator comfort in the CX130C and CX160C. The cabs of both machines are quieter and seven percent bigger than their predecessors. They feature a low profile that results in visibility that is 19 percent better.
