EQUIPMENT FOCUS Right-of-Way Equipment Bandit Model 200UC 12-inch disc-style chipper The new Bandit Model 200UC "Utility Chipper" is a cost-effective, high-production chipping solution for companies working utility and right-of-way maintenance. It is a compact, highly maneuverable 12-inch-capacity disc-style chipper that weighs less than 5,000 pounds for easy towing and positioning. It features a 14-inch x 17-inch chipper opening, a standard feed rate of 90 feet per minute (upgradeable to 120 feet per minute), and engine options ranging from 74 to 97 horsepower. The Model 200UC is a no-nonsense, durable chipper for fleets and for tree companies that occasionally need a 12-inch capacity machine, but want to save money on the purchase price. Bradco brush cutters The Bradco line of brush cutters by Paladin Attachments easily attach to most skid-steers, and are designed to cut grasses, weeds, brush and trees up to 4 inches in diameter. High deck clearance, side discharge, flow control baffle and a smooth unobstructed deck improve performance by preventing debris build up. The Bradco rotation indicator notifies the operator of overload conditions. Internal relief built into the motor protects the drive system and provides fast, controlled shut down. A stump jumper is another added feature designed to allow the cutter to lift up over stumps and rocks, protecting the machine from damage that can be caused by hitting these obstructions. Bradco brush cutters are available in 60- and 72-inch standard-flow hydraulics and 60-, 72- and 78-inch high-flow models. The high-flow models are offered with a selection of hydraulic motors to match to your skid loaders' hydraulic system for maximum cutter performance. Kershaw Kershaw, a division of Progress Rail Services, manufactures vegetation control equipment, including Klearway brushcutters, Caterpillar-powered Sky Trim tree trimmers and on-track rail brushcutters. Progress Rail is a wholly owned subsidiary of Caterpillar. Products include the Klearway 500 heavy-duty brushcutter, the Sky Trim Generation 2 highproduction tree trimmer that comes rubber tired or tracked, and the ATC7 all-terrain carrier, which is new for 2013. Loftness' Kwik-Trim Loftness' Kwik-Trim is a compact-yet-mobile tree trimmer with a 53-foot reach, which is far enough to handle the vast majority of trimming needs. It easily maneuvers in tight areas and can be transported with just a pickup and trailer. Utilizing the chassis of a TB250 Takeuchi mini excavator, the Kwik-Trim is equipped with a fiberglassreinforced plastic (FRP) boom, and uses a long-stroke hydraulic cylinder to telescope to 53 feet. The single-reel design provides a clean, straight pull on the hydraulic hoses throughout the boom's full range of motion. The machine contains a large-capacity oil cooler, variable displacement piston pumps and custom valves to ensure reliability and smooth operation of the hydraulic system. The Kwik-Trim features a zero-turn radius, as well as 360-degree continuous boom swing, 90-degree boom arc, and 35-degree boom tilt. At the end of the boom is a 24-inch, carbide-tipped saw blade, which operates at 3,000 rpm. PECO Brush Blazer PECO Inc. announced its TBB-3002 Brush Blazer. Featuring a 48-inch cut width, the Brush Blazer packs an exceptional amount of power, which allows the unit to tackle trees up to 4 inches in diameter. The Brush Blazer is available with a 28-horsepower Briggs & Stratton Vanguard or a 27-horsepower Kohler EFI engine. In optimal cutting conditions, the Brush Blazer can clear up to six acres per day. The unit features a five-gallon tank that allows a run time ranging from four to six hours, depending on the job's terrain and material. The Brush Blazer's rotary brush cutting system features two half-inch-thick steel discs, each with three hardened-steel flail blades. The weight of the discs and the mass of the blades give the unit the strength and momentum needed to plow through tall grass, tough brush and woody material. The flail blades are easy to sharpen and are double sided for extra longevity. 22 Arbor Age / July/August 2013 www.arborage.com
