3 championship and award-winning
golf courses to choose, a fantastic 24/7
casino, historic hotels, many on-site
dining options and the quaint town of
French Lick right across the street from
the French Lick Springs Hotel, there are
so many options for everyone. If you
don't golf, you can enjoy the various
local shops, the two spacious pools (one
for adults only), the luxurious spa at
either of the hotels, the nearby winery,
as well as many activities for kids!
We love both the Donald Ross Golf Course
and Pete Dye Golf Course and usually
"Golf is not a
fair game, so
why build a fair
golf course?"
—Pete Dye
play both courses once or twice each
time we visit. Our trip this time started
off with playing the Donald Ross Golf
Course, which was built in 1917, and
has quite a bit of history about it over
the years that you can view on their
website. When you arrive at the course,
the following exact words written by
Donald Ross in 1917 await you on a
bronze sign with his photo: "An ideal
golf course is a test for both the expert
and the everyday player, it is my goal to
bring out of the player the best golf they
have in them. Golf should be a pleasure,
not a pennance."—Donald J. Ross
