Fraternal Task Force Meeting June 6, 2013 at 3:30 p.m. Present: argaret Babinat, Margaret Schmitt, M Loretta Nelson, Carol Clauson Committee members reviewed the minutes and action plans from the March 2013 meeting. Future NCF magazines will continue to include articles that will educate members about fraternalism, fraternal benefits offered by NCSF, and fraternal activities accomplished by courts. To facilitate growth, a survey was sent in early May to active courts requesting ideas and suggestions that will help with planning. New ideas moving forward included use of the magazine to highlight various courts' Hearts and Hands projects. Loretta Nelson suggested that a Hearts and Hands project follow up story might be of interest to those who read our magazine. We encourage researching new "membership products" that provide another option with the traditional definition of social members. In regard to increasing beneficial members: promote and explain recommender award progra; encourage Start Smart life insurance sales especially at life-milestones like birth/baptism, prior to start of school, at 1st Communion and Confirmation, at the start of sophomore year of high school; encourage retention of Child's Plan and Start Smart members; and focus on the needs and wants of the 21+ age group. Regarding making connections with Catholics: re-think missed opportunities and watch for new opportunities and contact couples preparing for Catholic marriage (by contacting pastor, deacon or lay couple assisting marriage prep). Regarding increased member involvement: revisit previous programs that were successful (gold, silver, bronze awards for courts, Brass Bell, etc.).
