Because Rigid's LED lights are waterproof and have unbreakable polycarbonate lenses, mounting the D2 Dually's low isn't an issue. In fact, being low helps these compact, square driving lights penetrate fog, rain and snow far better and farther down the road than the factory "fog" lights. For Surveyor 1's final light upgrade we mounted Rigid's 30-inch SR-Series LED combo driving/flood light bar to the top of the winch bumper. It fit perfectly, the 1 5/8-inch tall housing just clearing the bottom of the Fab Four Black Steel bumper's lower grille guard tube when we bolted it in place using the supplied mounting brackets. The SR-30 is a phenomenal light. It produces 9,600 Lumen and throws a beam that lights up a jobsite or road a half-mile distant. Road signs, animal eyes, and anything else 75 feet to either side of the truck are also illuminated. Turning this LED light bar on is like turning on the sun. FINGERTIP CONTROL Wiring the Rigid LEDs is easy because each light comes with a pre-wired harness and lighted, heavy-duty switch. The lights would be a plug-and play install for most truck owners. But we changed the install up a bit for Surveyor 1. We still used Rigid's wiring harnesses, but instead of mounting their nice switches we opted to use Buyer's Products' six-switch, pre-wired control box. The box is about the size of a small CB radio with six, heavy-duty, lighted rocker switches across the face plate – each with its own internal circuit breaker. Each switch is neatly labeled, too. We mounted the box to the Ram's floor coin tray using the bracket that came with the Buyer's unit. Then we routed all the wires from the six switches under the front driver's seat carpet and under the doorsill plate. We also hooked up the control box's power wires to the battery and the truck's ignition circuit. The switch wires were then divided: half went forward and out the firewall to connect propickupmag.com PROPICKUP 21
