The Arborators' official badge of Forest Trees, published in 1670. An arborator is someone who plants or takes care of trees—a little broader than arborist—and it sounds The Arborators in May 2011, and a different look for May Day 2012 (below left) totally old-school. I also wanted to tie it to a geographical location—our first members were based in the Hamline-Midway and Frogtown neighborhoods in Saint Paul, Minnesota. New members have usually found us through our performances; we're about two-thirds forestry/urban forestry professionals now. Several members are full-time arborists, some are involved with citizen forestry initiatives in their neighborhoods, and everyone joins in for community engagements and help with the various planting and volunteer events we have performed for. We perform annually at Saint Paul's Arbor Day celebration, The Hamline-Midway Heartwood Festival, the May Day Parade in Minneapolis and many other venues where we can spread the word about the benefits of trees and urban and community forestry. The Harmony Concert Band, inspiration for the Arborators. www.urban-forestry.com 37
