IS IT AN OMEN? Opener against Braves FOR SOME MILWAUKEE baseball fans, the home opener for the Brewers this month will be a reunion of sorts. Adding to the excitement of the first home game on April 4 against the Atlanta Braves is a new, state-of- the-art scoreboard above center field. The 5,940- square-foot HD scoreboard is the third largest in baseball, offering the same high resolution as the much-talked-about Dallas Cowboys screen in Texas. Fans looking for a unique viewing experience may consider getting a table at T.G.I. Friday’s Front Row restaurant, located above the left field wall. Enjoy a meal with friends at their outdoor patio or sit inside to watch other games on many TVs. Get there early because seating fills up quickly. For those visiting when the Brewers are out of town, fear not, because Friday’s is open year round. Every summer, regardless of the outlook, baseball is the talk of the town in Milwaukee. Visitors come from throughout the Midwest to enjoy the game, Miller Park and the beverages that “made Milwaukee famous.” It’s sure to be that way again in 2011, but this year the revelry might continue through October! The Brewers open their home season April 4 against the Atlanta Braves, once the Milwaukee Braves and the only Milwaukee team ever to win a World Series. The Braves were in Milwaukee from 1953-1965, winning the pennant in 1957 and contending almost every year before mov- ing to Atlanta. Like the Braves of 1957, today’s Brewers are loaded with All-Stars and set attendance records that are the envy of larger markets. The Brewers, however, play at Miller Park, a state-of-the-art 21st century facility that replaced the old Milwaukee County Stadium. The four-game opening series with the Braves of Atlanta begins at 1:10 p.m. April 4 and continues with games at 7:10 p.m. April 5 and 6 and 12:40 p.m. April 7. After Atlanta comes the old rival of the Milwaukee Braves and the current rival of the Brewers, the Chicago Cubs. The Cubs are in town for a three-game series beginning April 8, followed by a three-game series with the Houston Astros, April 22-24, and a three-game series with the Cincinnati Reds, April 25-27.
