Your association remains profi table, and invest- ments are holding their own – a positive statement in this chal- lenging economy. One of the new member services introduced by the IDA is a shipping service through SAV Transportation Group. We are aware of several IDA mem- bers who are already using SAV and recommend them highly. Another industry association, National Tractor Parts Dealer Association (NTPDA), also has enjoyed a successful relationship with SAV for some time. IDA members now have the opportunity to use SAV's Virtual Shipping Assistant™ – located on the IDA website at www.idaparts. org – a multi-carrier "rate shop" function that queries dozens of digital freight tariff s from What's New at IDA? national, regional and micro- regional carriers and delivers real-time rates for less-than- truckload (LTL) freight services. In addition, SAV customers have an immediate online option to obtain an instant quote for full coverage insurance that covers new, used and remanufactured commodities. You can read more about this new service, contracted with special discounts for you, in this issue of the Universal, beginning on page 24. For North America and small niches on the Pacifi c Rim, busi- ness is showing a slight hike in the a ermarket due to mining. e sales market is showing an imbalance of original equip- ment parts on hand, making the a ermarket attractive to custom- ers who are seeing the nudge for a growing work cycle and the repairs necessary to support these markets. e IDA members I've talked with recently also are seeing an increase in a ermarket parts sales and service. Members, please take a look at our next IDA Convention in Chicago! We invite you to join us for entertainment, food and exciting views of the Chicago skyline on the evening boat cruise on Lake Michigan. Several new IDA members will be on board – it's the perfect opportunity for you to welcome them into our organization. Yours truly, Pete Smith
