Networking The Wisconsin Foundation for School Music has appointed Marta Weldon (left) as the new director of development. Weldon will work to advo- cate, promote and preserve music education in Wisconsin schools. Baker Tilly Virchow Krause has been named one of the “Best Accounting Firms for Women” by the American Society of Woman Accountants and the American Society of Certified Public Accountants. Baker Tilly is the 16th largest accounting and advisory firm in the country and was recognized for its high percentage of female partners and principals. Allied Learning Center Site Supervisor Leslie Thompson received an Outstanding Educator Award from 100 Black Men at its Mentor and Educator Appreciation Break- fast, an event honoring those who have positively influenced local children’s lives. News Madison Music Makers, a nonprofit organization providing music education to low-income youth, was awarded with a $25,000 grant from the National Endow- ment for the Arts. Alicia Pelton was inducted into the Janesville Sports Hall of Fame. Pelton was the only woman in the group of five inductees and was recognized for her athletic achievements, coaching and teaching efforts. The Madison Community Foundation has renamed the West High School Class of 1952 Endowment Fund the Ann Stanke Arts and Humanities Scholarship Fund. Stanke (pictured), a prominent member of the graduating class and a gem in the Madison arts community, died May 18 after a battle with Lou Gehrig’s Disease. She was regarded for reviving the Madison Opera as well as her contri- butions to the arts nationwide.
