At Friedman Benda in Chelsea, Christopher Le Brun presents a series of paintings, marking his first solo show in New York in more than 10 years. The British artist is also president of the Royal Academy of Arts. "I find the contrast profoundly stimulating," says Le Brun. "Turner deputized as Royal Academy President and Delacroix was on the Paris City Council in 1851!" friedmanbenda.com WIRED FOR ART Art Miami founder Nick Korniloff is heading west. The Silicon Valley/San Francisco Fair will debut in October with more than 70 international galleries presenting Contemporary and Modern art. October 9 through 12. artsvfair.com "I'VE BEEN DRAWN TO TEXTILES since I was little," says Dana Haim, a Brooklyn-based artist and textiles designer. "I always had a little rag or blanket with me for comfort and I really think it all started there." The RISD and Central St. Martins-trained Haim, who cites Shelia Hicks, Anni Albers and Gunta Stölzl as "textile heroes," creates playful and imaginative works, including her signature pom mobiles and weavings, wallpaper and, recently, ceramics, which are sold at ABC Home and online at Sight Unseen and One Kings Lane. She's also outfitted New York's Bird boutique with holiday windows and Stone Fox Bride with large installations. danahaim.com A pom mobile by Dana Haim Christopher Le Brun with one of his latest works on view at Friedman Benda Chul Hyun Ahn's Void Platform, 2012
