The 48245S with Smart
Ignition runs in Intermittent
Ignition ("constant") when
needed to prevent loss
of flame, but switches to Interrupted Ignition ("light off only")
when it can—to save wear and tear on the igniter. Studies have
shown that constant duty igniters run an average of 1,000 hours
per heating season, compared with only about 9.5 hours when
the igniter is turned off after flame is established. This research
led to Carlin's introduction of the "Smart Ignition" feature now
on Carlin's 48245S Primary Control. This patent pending con-
trol operates in intermittent duty when needed to prevent flame
loss and service calls, but switches to interrupted duty when it
can to dramatically extend the life of the igniter. The 48245S
can be used with any igniter.
