Contact Tree Management Systems, Inc. at 800-933-1955 EQUIPMENT FOCUS ArborSoftWorx ArborSoftWorx Commercial is a sophisticated database application that enables you to manage unlimited client transactions, and provides you with the powerful data access and reporting tools necessary to effectively manage your "for profit" service business. ArborSoftWorx Municipal is a sophisticated database software application designed for municipal, city and campus arborists managing tree inventories or urban forests. This software is scalable from the single-user desktop to the office and field PCs and/or PDA devices to the departmental LAN to the Municipal WAN. Integrated Vegetation Management Platform from Powel The Integrated Vegetation Management Platform (IVMP) from Powel, Inc. is an enterprise software system devoted to mission-critical vegetation maintenance. IVMP software tools meet the unique requirements of transmission and distri- bution utilities in the office and in the field. The full IVMP suite includes: • Maintenance Manager: This back-office application helps utilities analyze, plan, and assign vegetation tasks. • VegWorks: A mobile client allowing crews to perform inspections, identify the type and location of work, and recommend appropriate equipment and crews. • WorkStudio Server: Manages communication with other systems and can interface with most industry-standard GIS, CIS, and financial packages. • InfoCenter: A web-based portal for limited access to select information residing on the WorkStudio server so that contractors only have access to data, such as reports or work orders, required to do their work. Utilities can scale deployment of IVMP to use the components that fit current needs. Forest Service releases i-TREE v4.0 The U.S. Forest Service recently released i-TREE v4.0, a state-of the-art soft- ware suite. This suite includes i-PED (Pest Evaluation and Detection), a tool that provides a portable, accessible, and standardized way to observe trees for possible insect or disease problems. Many communities inventory their urban trees to better understand the structure, function, and management needs of their urban forests, but these inventories often overlook evidence of pests or diseases. i-PED will help all those with their eyes on the urban forest to observe, identify, and report the signs and symptoms of urban and community forest pests. i-PED provides a framework for systematically examining a tree for signs or symptoms of insects, fungi, or diseases. The goal of i-PED is to help urban forestry professionals and volunteers detect threats to the community tree resource. www.greenmediaonline.com/productportal www.arborage.com Arbor Age / October 2011 7 For more information about any of these products, and more, visit
