Inventor Craig Bailey said FoamAroma lids already avoid the 'geyser squirt' but this extra snap seal tab guards against any possible spillages in carry trays or moving vehicles. The aroma hole snap has built-in venting to release the pressure from air heated by the hot liquid. The new lid is made from polystyrene but uses considerably less than other takeaway lids and also uses an Environmental Stress Cracking Resistant (ESCR) grade material that is more flexible and resists cracking, making the lid less likely to become brittle. The lids can therefore be washed and reused several times. To make a one-size-fits-all concept possible, Tom Bell director of UK company Progressive Supplies (Paper) Ltd., worked with Bailey to produce a new style of take-away cup, the Aroma8 8oz cup, which fits the FoamAroma lids and the new AromaSnap seal. The unique cup shape simulates a cup and saucer and is available single walled, double walled or Ripple wrap in brown kraft or black.
