system that requires expensive parts, but TEEPACK intro-
duced an "Air Knotting System" where vacuum channels pull
the thread and tighten into a knot. The machine uses fewer
parts which decreased assembly and maintenance costs. The Air
Knotting System resulted in a 65% cost savings and could be
retrofit into existing Teepack machines.
Tea bag manufacturing is in a state of change and it is certain
that the equipment will continue to evolve to meet new needs.
These companies are ready for the challenge. "For many years it felt
like tea bag production was on a race to the bottom, just producing
bags and bags of tea at a low price," said Mackness. "Now it seems
like tea bag production is finally on a race to the top."
