For his upcoming show, he commissioned Dana Barnes to create seating that borders on sculpture. "They're textural concrete structures embedded with textiles I make from exotic woolen fibers looped and entangled to simulate lichen in vibrant bursts of color," says Barnes. These will surely be the perfect perch for fairgoers to sit and soak in the show. collectivedesignfair.com BRITAIN'S GOT BAUBLES London dealer Louisa Guinness routinely showcases jewelry by artists like Anish Kapoor but now she's taking another tack. Her new show, "The Artist as Jeweller: 1960-1980," focuses on often overlooked designers such as John Donald who favored discrete abstraction over sparkling stones. Take his 1969 brooch—a cosmos-like crystallized stone edged in intricate gold and topped with a pearl. "These makers were true artists at the vanguard of the 20th century aesthetic revolution," says Guinness. louisaguinnessgallery.com ART IN THE PARK The Public Art Fund presents "Please Touch the Art," an exhibition of public works by Danish artist Jeppe Hein, beginning in May and running through April 2016. Spanning Brooklyn Bridge Park, installations include Appearing Rooms, walls made of cascading fountains and mazes of mirrors; Modified Social Benches, oddly shaped seats complicating the role of art versus object and new sculptural works infusing whimsy into the banal. "Ideally, the installation connects people from different contexts, origins and language in a common space, giving them an occasion to interact with each other," says Hein. brooklynbridgepark.org Jeppe Hein's Appearing Rooms, 2004, is one of the interactive works included in "Please Touch the Art." 3
