Product Round-up | String Trimmers and Brush Cutters Core Outdoor Power's CGT400 trimmer In the spring of 2012, Core Outdoor Power will debut the CGT400 trimmer, the first component in the GasLess family of products. At the heart of the trimmer lies a wireless motor, which utilizes patented CORE Technology, with "CORE" serving as the acronym for "Conductor Optimized Rotary Energy." In addition to the CORE platform benefits (emission free, quiet and powerful), the trimmer offers the following features: instant trigger start, light weight, ergonomic soft-grip handles, excellent balance, no vibration, and run times equivalent to a tank of gas. Echo SRM-266T The SRM-266T trimmer, in a bold new color, features 50 percent more cutting torque than the standard Echo SRM-266 trimmer, making it ideal for trimming and cutting in thick regional grasses and brush applications. The SRM-266T features a powerful, smooth-running 25.4cc professional-grade, 2-stroke engine along with i-30 tech- nology for a 30-percent reduction in starting effort. Heavy-duty engine vibration reduction systems with padded handles increase operator comfort. It is also equipped with a harness ring located on the shaft, providing an easy, convenient connection for a harness. Additional features include a 59-inch, 4-layer flex cable drive to pro- vide additional strength in handling tough trimming and cutting applications, a 16.9-fluid-ounce see-through fuel tank for long run time, and a debris shield with a built-in cut-off knife for optimum line length. It also includes up- graded 2-stage commercial-grade air filtration and new cylinder plating for increased engine life. Efco 8530 Clearing large brush areas is made easier with the efco 8530. This brush cutter features a durable design, includ- ing a solid-steel drive shaft. The double anti-vibration system in the engine and handlebar makes using the 8530 for long jobs more comfortable. With a choice of a line head or a 60-tooth blade, no matter the type of brush this brush cutter can handle it. The bike handles allow for easier control and even distribution of weight. The efco 8530 is tough, durable and reliable. Honda trimmers As Honda Power Equipment's most powerful trimmer, the HHT35S is aimed squarely at meeting the rigorous de- mands of commercial, rental and residential users. Powered by Honda's 360-degree inclinable GX35 mini 4-stroke engine (known for its low noise level, low vibration level, and ease of starting), the HHT35S effectively bridges the weight gap with the 2-stroke competition while delivering all the advantages of a 4-stroke engine. In addi- tion, Honda trimmers do not require the mixing of gas and oil, which provides for greatly reduced emissions, in- creased efficiency, and a reduction in opportunity for operator error. The HHT35S is available in 2 configurations: HHT35SLTA (traditional loop handle) and HHT35SUKA (U-shaped bicycle-style handle). Husqvarna 555 FX The Husqvarna 555 FX is a very powerful clearing saw developed for a range of outdoor tasks in tough condi- tions. The X-Torq engine provides raw power, rapid acceleration and excellent fuel economy. The X-Torq engine design also reduces harmful exhaust emissions by up to 75 percent, and increases fuel efficiency by up to 20 per- cent. The engine and starter have been designed so the machine starts quickly with minimum effort. Resistance in the starter cord is reduced by up to 40 percent. The 555 FX features an adjustable and ergonomically designed handlebar for comfort, and a thumb-operated throttle for efficiency and precision control. LowVib and the Bal- ance XT Harness help to reduce operator fatigue. A magnetic locking pin holder facilitates easy blade adjust- ments and a short tube and bevel gear angled 24 degrees simplifies directional felling in dense forests. Jonsered GC 2128 straight-shaft trimmer The Jonsered GC 2128 straight-shaft trimmer is powered by a 28cc Clean Power engine, which delivers more torque and better fuel economy while reducing emissions 60 percent compared to prior models. The engine boasts a chrome cylinder bore, dual-web crankshaft and forged-steel connecting rod. The GC 2128 also features a choke and air purge system for reliable starts; a centrifugal clutch; and a spring-assisted recoil assembly for easier, low-resistance starting. The handle-mounted start/stop switch automatically returns to the "on" position, which helps reduce the chance of flooding the engine. 26 Landscape and Irrigation February 2012 www.landscapeirrigation.com
