They say payers are "get- ting antsy" for sleep labs and others to adopt the technology, because it will save them money, to the tune of $1,000 per test. "We're trying to put that story together and drive HST as part of that," said Mick Far- rell, president of ResMed Americas. Additionally, ResMed reported $647.5 million in revenue for the six months ended Dec. 31, a 10% increase compared to the same period in 2010. It reported a net income of $113.4 million, a 2% decrease. Peter Farrell concluded the call by saying: "We continue to be excit- ed about the future prospects for us. We're in the right space." Second: GE believes in Bionime's technology, which includes a strip design that eliminates the need for users to touch the sample after test- ing, Hayne said. "GE is a great brand and we have a great technology, so it's a great partnership," said Steve Millilo, a product manager at Bionime. GE selected Bionime, which is based in Taiwan and has a sales and marketing office in San Diego, after "extensive due diligence," Hayne and Millilo said. "GE and Bionime are poised to go head-to-head with the other companies in the market," Millolo said. They've also made a case to exempt HME that is used in both the home and institutional settings, like beds, manual wheelchairs and wound care supplies. The IRS planned to allow 90 days for comments and it planned to hold a public hearing on May 16. "The addition of this tax would be significant," said Seth Johnson, vice president of government affairs for Pride Mobility Products. "It's another increase in the cost of doing business."
