A proposed standard from ASHRAE, cur- rently open for public comment, would serve as the "backbone" of such rating systems. ASHRAE Standard 214P, Standard for Determining and Expressing Building Energy Performance in a Rating Program, is being written to standardize building energy rating programs by requiring the minimum content of any labels associ- ated with rating programs, establishing minimum requirements for rating pro- gram documentation and other essential components in rating programs. The standard would establish require- ments for: Disclosure of building energy use via a rating label and supporting summary documentation Determining and expressing energy use, with metered data, of buildings and building sites that are in operation Acceptable credentialing criteria for individuals applying the standard and reporting building energy use Pre-occupancy (design) and post- occupancy (in operation) conditions Format and content of the rating disclosure, the label and supporting docu- mentation PRODUCTS LEAK DETECTION KIT IDEAL FOR MEDIUM TO LARGE AC&R SYSTEMS T h e S p e c t r o l i n e ® O L K - 4 0 0 B E Z / E Complete BigEZ™ Leak Detection Kit con- tains everything needed to locate refrigerant leaks in medium to large size AC&R sys- tems—including high-pressure R-410A systems. Simply add a small amount of dye to the system and let it circulate. The fluo- rescent dye can be added with the system off or running. The dye/oil mixture escapes with the refrigerant wherever there's a leak. The exact source of every leak will be revealed by its bright fluorescent glow. At the heart of the kit is the OPTI-LUX™ 400, a powerful, rechargeable violet light LED leak detection flashlight, providing optimal fluorescent dye response and con- trast. It emits less visible light compared to standard blue light inspection lamps, so all AC&R leaks are easier to locate. The OPTI-LUX 400 has power comparable to high-intensity 150-watt lamps and an inspection range of 25 feet (7.6 m) or more. The kit also includes the BigEZ™ dye injector, a multi-dose 4 oz (118 ml) uni- versal/POE dye cartridge. This work-saving tool is calibrated in oz increments, so a technician can add the exact amount of dye for each system, simply by turning a handle.
