That will require 52 mowers of different types, 40 carts, and 25 backpack blowers. The combined mileage for all mowing will be about 55 miles (73 acres) per day. Do the math for the four days. Over 200 shuttle vehicles to move people around will be used each day, and the USGA will have enough space avail - able to park 20,000 vehicles. There will be 550 portolets and 20 executive restroom trailers available for your com- fort. Executive…does that mean you have to wear a suit and tie or pearls to use them? Local sponsors will account for 75% of sales; national spon- sors the remaining 25%. Right now in 2015, five USGA staff members have relocated to southeastern Wisconsin to plan and implement the 2017 US Open. Immediately following the 2016 US Open (in Pittsburgh at Oakmont), that number will go to 6-8. During the week of the event, the USGA will relocate 100+ full-time staff members to the Milwaukee area. And I've saved the best and most important fact for last. Just under 5,000 hardworking volunteers will make sure the 2017 US Open is unforgettable, providing yet one more reason to label Wisconsin, America's Golf Mecca. By the way, those volunteers already have been recruited and there are now waiting lists, unheard of so far from the actual time of the US Open. Of course, the biggest WOW factor will be watching the world's best golfers com - pete on a course in our own backyard. If you haven't played Erin Hills yet, give it a shot so you can talk like the expert in the crowd come 2017. It's kind of nice having a caddie lug your clubs around for you on a course that goes up and down and up and down and up and down, and measures, when all is said and done, about 8.5 miles straight-line distance.
