credit of $400 for materials needed. Consequently, the project
was completed at a cost of approximately $1,000.
Members of the L.I. Oilheating and Cooling Chapter of OESP
got together one Saturday this fall to help Maureen Gaspari.
The single mother of two had moved back into her childhood
home to care for her sick and elderly parents. Her father, a Navy
Seabee in World War II, had died on Christmas Day 2014, and
Gaspari's mother recently died of Parkinson's disease. Gaspari
herself suffers from heart disease. The family home was in need
of a boiler. To view pictures from the installation, visit this link:

of Technical Heating Co., Mt. Sinai, N.Y., noted that photos of
the project were taken by Mike Dwyer.
When Dan Holohan and Judy Garber took a train to Boston
for the New England Fuel Institute show a number of years
ago, the idea of Oil Heat Cares was "hatched," Garber said.
The charity foundation, www.oilheatcares.com, has grown
over the years. "We get fine support from manufacturers, folks
that participate in our Care to Ride event and sometimes from
those that just make a donation," Garber said. "But without the
'beautiful people' who install the oil heating equipment in the
homes of the less fortunate, there would be no foundation,"
she says. "And in some cases, no place for these homeowners
to go for help."
OHC says there are a number of projects in the pipeline. To
learn more about the foundation, and to find out how to help,

Oil Heat Cares is a not-for-profit foundation that assists
needy persons and organizations with the replacement of their
oil heating appliances, according to the foundation's web-
site (oilheatcares.com). Funds are raised to purchase heating
equipment. Chapters of the National Association of Oil and
Energy Service Professionals, members and other Oil Heat
Cares partners identify those within their neighborhoods that
need a helping hand and install the heating equipment at no
cost to the homeowner.
It's easy to get involved with Oil Heat Cares (OHC). You
can make a tax deductible donation (OESP is a 501C3 Tax
Deductible Foundation) by visiting the website (oilheatcares.
com) and clicking the "Make A Donation" button or by writing
a check to Oil Heat Cares. You can donate your time and talent
by identifying a project for a customer or neighbor in need, by
donating equipment or supplies, or by participating in an OHC
fundraiser.
