Steckel's leadership and advocacy in Washington, D.C., on behalf of the bio- diesel industry resulted in many important initiatives, including a comprehensive campaign demonstrating the benefits of increased biodiesel volumes under the RFS. The EPA's latest RFS proposal would grad- ually raise biodiesel volumes by about 100 million gallons per year to a standard of 1.9 billion gallons in 2017. Steckel and the NBB team have vowed to continue working to strengthen biodiesel volumes in the final proposal set to be released in November. At the local level, as the head of the NBB's Washington D.C. office, Steckel h a s c o l l a b o r a t e d f r e q u e n t l y w i t h GWRCCC, providing support and infor- mation to guide various local efforts and speaking at regional events while keeping the GWRCCC informed about national developments that impact the local community. GWRCCC has also greatly benefited from National Biodiesel Foundation contributions that have enabled the Coalition to provide tech- nology training. Local fleets and other stakeholders have benefited from this expanded education and outreach. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, Clean Cities is a public-private partnership working to reduce petroleum consumption in the transportation sector. There are nearly 90 coalitions nationwide. DEAD RIVER COMPANY ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT OF PRESIDENT AND CEO ROBERT MOORE IN JULY 2016 P r e s i d e n t a n d C E O R o b e r t M o o r e announced publicly that he will retire in July 2016 from the company that he's led since 2008. A native of Maine, Moore joined Dead River Company in 1995 as general counsel and vice president of administration, later becoming senior vice president of petro- leum. A graduate of Trinity College and the University of Maine School of Law, Moore is a former Naval officer, a former partner at the Pierce Atwood law firm and served as a senior advisor to Maine Governor John R. McKernan. "It is one of the great honors of my life to lead this company," said Moore. "We have the industry's finest people and I consider it a privilege to work with every one of them." During Moore's tenure as CEO, he focused on growing the company's core business of supplying propane, heating oil, and other distillate products to residential and commercial customers across north- ern New England. In addition to his retirement announce- ment, Moore also announced that the company's board of directors has pro- moted current vice president of energy, Deanna Sherman, to company president, effective January 1, 2016. In July, Sherman will take over as CEO. Sherman first joined Dead River Company in 1986 and currently serves as vice president of the Energy Division. Sherman is responsible for leading opera- tions, sales and marketing. "This is one of the most values- driven companies in New England," said Sherman. Sherman is a graduate of Colby College and received an M.B.A. from the University of Southern Maine.
