LAUNCH February 2016 | Boating Industry | 11 "This new facility will help us better serve our customers across all of Canada," said Georges Jalbert, general manager for Mercury Canada. "Having the ability to expand the market to the western half of the country and provide immediate attention to our customers is paramount to our growth and our success in Canada." The 50,000 square-foot facility opened on December 14 and is fully operational. Prior to the expansion, all finished goods were shipped from Milton. Now with the expansion, engines, parts and accessories will be available from British Columbia to allow customers to receive their orders faster. INDUSTRY GROUPS PARTNER TO LAUNCH COLOMBIA SHOW The International Council of Marine Industry Associations together with its members NMMA and Asociación Náutica de Colombia have announced plans for the International Nautical Congress of Colombia, April 27-29, in Cartagena de Indias, to promote the country's recreational boating industry. Attendees of the Congress will participate in two days of networking and education to learn about opportunities in Colombia. The Congress will also feature keynote speakers and breakout sessions as well as a marina tour to give attendees a glimpse of some of the existing boating infrastructure and facilities. "Colombia's recreational boating industry has tremendous growth potential and is an emerging boating market for the global marine industry," said Thom Dammrich, ICOMIA and NMMA president. "By attending the Congress, participating marine businesses can learn more about opportunities for recreational boating and the necessary steps to take to get involved."
