The company said it will increase the base mileage pay by an average of 13.5 percent for over-the-road solo drivers who remain accident and ticket free with no CSA violations for a year, effective March 1. U.S. Xpress said in a statement last week the pay increase is being im- plemented to ensure the company continues to recruit and retain drivers. Starting on March 1, U.S. Xpress OTR solo drivers who have a 12-month safe driving record and are accident, CSA violation and ticket free, will earn the raise. According to the company, with this such a driver with fi ve years of experience could make over $70,000 a year.
