Over 750 customers from 19 countries descended on the North East to see the range of new low-emission machines. Komatsu's Birtley facility was showcased to European customers, who were given a taste of the North East, including a lunch at Lumley Castle and an overnight stay at the new Jurys Inn hotel in Gateshead. Peter Howe, Komatsu UK's Managing Director, said: "As this is the largest product launch that has taken place in Europe, we are immensely proud that we were able to hold the event at our site, especially as the company will be celebrating its 25th anni- versary since opening in 1987 by HRH the Prince of Wales. "It was great to wel- come so many important cus- tomers, who not only viewed our new products and our manufacturing facilities, but also got a chance to test drive the new machines. "To launch our new range of machines, we were keen to bring customers to our site to help us establish a closer con- nection with the people who are key to our business.
