At the 36th anniversary fest, Old World culture meets contemporary fun with live PXVLFDQGGDQFHîUHZRUNV cultural displays, children's activities, food, beer and spirits, shopping, parades and more. Musical favorites include Alex Meixner, whose per - formance of old time polkas and waltzes to jazz and pop has made him a Gram- my-nominated musician and producer. Direct from Germa- ny, the youthful members of Musikverein Herborn-Seel- bach e.V. are known for big band music and high energy. Bands from Wisconsin, Illinois and Minnesota keep festgoers dancing and sing - ing, with several incorporating audience participation into their performances. "Don't miss" features in- clude local German dance groups that perform all week- end on various stages, and German Fest's "living" Glock- enspiel. Fireworks light up the skies at 10:30pm Friday and Saturday. Children's activities include WKHJLDQWSOD\JURXQGLQïDW- ables and the Culture Pavil- ion Passport Program. On Sunday there is a children's Fairy Tale Parade at 3pm and a Battle of the Mascots at 5pm. Watch Team Brad Beach vs. Team Fritzi in a short soccer scrimmage and get a chance to meet German Fest's mascot, Fritzi, before or after the match. The 2016 Culture Pavil - ion theme is "Germany's Waterways." Find German language games, bookstore, interactive displays, and a European train display. In the Handwerker (Craftsmen) Area, watch master sculptor Bryan Berenson and Ger - man blacksmith Wolfgang Schweizer.
