www.goodfruit.com Good Fruit Grower AUGUST 2016 7 West Virginia fruit research station picks acting director T racy Christine Leskey has been named acting direc- tor of the Appalachian Fruit Research Station in Kearneysville, West Virginia. Leskey joined the AFRS staff in 2000 as a U.S. Department of Agriculture Agricultural Research Service entomologist. In that capacity, she conducted research on the behavior and chemical ecology of deciduous tree fruit pests. Much of her most recent work involves research into the brown marmorated stink bug. Leskey's recent pub- lished work covers such varied subjects as the insect's overwintering and foraging behavior to its response to various pesticides, as well as evaluations of various traps and baits for the pest. Built in 1978, the Appalachian Fruit Research Station conducts fundamental, applied and developmental research on critical problems of apples, peaches, pears, plums, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and blackberries.
