Since then, however, profound chang- es have reshaped the industry and a war for talent is underway. – Negotiating Retainage (Item # 8086) Learn to develop an effective strategy to convince general contrac- tors to reduce or eliminate retainage, and how to broach the topic of zero or reduced retainage with clients by ne- gotiating from a position of strength. – The Payment Dance in the Con- struction Industry (Item # 8087) More than 200 years ago, Thomas Jefferson invented the mechanic's lien right and therein established the right of construction suppliers and subcon- tractors to get paid as a bedrock prin- ciple of the nation. Ever since then, there has been tension between the top and bottom of the chain about payment timing, rights, and abuses. Learn about the public policy rea- sons and background behind lien and bond claims laws and how you can leverage your rights to mitigate the risk of non-payment or payment abus- es. – Proposed Wage & Hour Regula- tions (Item # 8088) Learn how the Department of La- bor's proposed revisions to the Wage and Hour Regulations may affect your business. – Websites, Email, Social Media and Your Domain Name (Item # 8089) Your business's online identity is more than simply your web site and your e-mail address.
