To offer the best possible solution it is therefore also necessary to understand the cigarette manufacturing process and the specific applications of the parts. The cigarette production facilities and the engineering departments of cigarette manufacturers often contact us regarding their needs and we travel worldwide to meet and discuss with them on site personally. Of course, we also keep up with developments regarding information systems and how to integrate them with our customers' ERP systems. Development and investment takes place continuously to keep up with the demands of the industry. Our product developments are varied and we look closely for areas of improvement involving equipment that can give rise to performance issues and costs. The hopper feeder supports for Protos makers are an example of a quite recent development. The improvement lies in the choice of material compared to OEM and although these parts are not needed very frequently, they cause many hours of maintenance and downtime when replacement is required. The complete kits for new inner frame shapes on hinge lid packers are another development. Driven by marketing, there is a high demand for new shapes and the fast introduction of new pack designs – we are able to supply these kits in 4 to 6 weeks. The kits have also been developed in such a way that they consist only of the parts that are actually needed and we provide the customer with clear information. Our service level is also developing. We are performing more onsite assessments to understand the needs of our customers better and the feedback is very positive. The result is that we can offer a tailor-made program of spare parts with short lead times to reduce our customers' need for stocks. The program also offers more options for repair, upgrades and standardization. Looking to the future, it is evident that our industry is expected to encounter further challenges.
