Grasshopper AERA-vator The Grasshopper AERA-vator is a coreless lawn aerator that may be used to aerate and loosen compacted soil in less time with less labor compared to walk-behind or pull-behind aerators — even in the tightest of spaces. The PTO-driven AERA-vator works without slicing or cutting, improving turf development and water absorption with little surface disruption. The patented vibrating tines deep-fracture soil instead of plugging cores, which means turf areas are immediately available for use. The AERA-vator attaches in place of the out-front mower deck for zero-turn maneuverability to improve tee boxes and compacted cart paths, or aerate large turf areas, such as athletic fields and parks, quickly and efficiently. The Grasshopper Co. Grasshopper Tine-Rake dethatchers Turf areas may be prepared for overseeding, topdressing and fertilization with Tine-Rake dethatchers for Grasshopper True ZeroTurn mowers. These dethatchers feature steel tines that move in a unified raking motion to remove large amounts of thatch and debris, as well as surface-aerate soil for better root development. Thatch removal allows for better absorption of fertilizers and water into the soil, and it can help protect lawns from moisture-laden material that harbors mold and fungus. The dethatchers connect out-front of the mower deck on any Grasshopper mower. A dethatcher may be coupled with Grasshopper's PowerVac collection system to dethatch and collect thatch and debris in the same pass. The Grasshopper Co. Gravely Thatch-O-Matic power rakes Gravely offers durable Thatch-O-Matic power rakes with tine reels to remove lightly compacted grass and leaf debris. With a 19-inch sweeping width and 6-hp. 169-cc Subaru engine, the power rakes can be used for dethatching and to prepare for reseeding. Housed in heavy-duty, fully welded, 12-gauge steel, Thatch-O-Matic power rakes are ideal for commercial and rental applications. An 11-position height of cut moves in 0.25-inch increments from 1 to 4 inches with a locking collar. For operator safety, each power rake has a manual- operated clutch lever. Additional features include a handle with a vibration-absorbing comfort grip. Accessories include a knife reel assembly, flail reel assembly and a debris catcher. Gravely, an Ariens Co. JRCO Hooker soft-plug aerator The JRCO Hooker soft-plug aerator offers zero-turn maneuverability. The unique tine rotors utilize the forward force of the mower to make holes up to 3 inches deep. The Hooker pulls loose plugs of soil, eliminating messy, hard cores, as well as soil compaction. It aerates 1.5 acres per hour at 5 mph. JRCO, Inc. JRCO Tine Rake Dethatcher The JRCO Tine Rake Dethatcher provides a quick spring green-up by removing embedded thatch and leaves, as well as combing up matted turfgrass while mowing. Its flexible tines allow zero-turning maneuverability while raking. It is available in 36-, 46- and 60-inch widths and quickly attaches to the JRCO universal mount bar with clevis pins. JRCO, Inc. Mantis tiller/cultivators with aerator and dethatcher attachments Mantis offers all of its tiller/cultivators with several optional attachments, including an aerator, dethatcher and aerator/dethatcher combo. All Mantis tiller/cultivators boast patented serpentine tines, which spin at 240 rpm (almost twice the speed of other tillers) to till through all soil types, including sod and hard clay. They also have a tilling depth of up to 10 inches, and the tines are reversible for shallow cultivating up to 3 inches for quick and easy weeding). Plus, the Mantis tiller/cultivators feature a rugged single-piece transmission with all-steel gears and bronze bushings, a convenient carrying handle for transport, and fold-down handles for easy storage. Mantis/Schiller Grounds Care, Inc. Redexim Carrier The Carrier is a short, 3-wheeled, self-propelled power unit that features a 32-hp. engine, rear 540 PTO and hydrostatic drive. The Carrier can be fitted with multiple attachments, including a Verti-Drain aerator that provides 6-inch depth, a verti-cut unit, a topdresser and several seeder attachments. Large turf tires provide traction and keep ground compaction to a minimum even when fully loaded. Redexim North America, Inc. OUTDOOR POWER EQUIPMENT JULY 2012 23
