They form gelatinous deposits which constitute the sludge found in fuel oil storage tanks. This matter will clog the fuel lines and cause excessive wear to the fuel pump. Fuel is unable to burn efficiently, causing partly wasted fuel, as well as an accumulation of carbon in the chambers. Other serious problems that occur are water going into the fuel due to condensation, i.e. temperature changes, leaks in the tank and poor housekeep- ing. In addition, water accelerates rusting of tanks. Acid-forming substances in fuel oil are the source of yet another problem causing corrosion of equip- ment. You can do something about getting the aforementioned problems under control by using FPPF Chemical Co., Inc.'s fuel additives as your preventative maintenance program.
