Pumps product focus | by Wayne Grayson CENTRIFUGAL FORCE Subaru trash pumps are centrifugal-type pumps available in models with 2-, 3- and 4-inch discharge outlets. A Subaru overhead cam or overhead valve gasoline engine powers each model and the company stresses the benefit of a pump and engine built as an integrated unit. The 2-inch PKX201T is powered by the 6-horsepower EX17 overhead cam engine, and offers a delivery volume of 185 gallons per minute. The 3-inch PKX301T is powered by the 9-horsepower EX27 overhead cam engine and offers a delivery volume of 314 gallons per minute. The 4-inch PTV405T is powered by the EH34D, an 11.0-horsepower overhead valve engine, and offers a delivery volume of 528 gallons per minute. The 2-inch model can handle solid debris up to 3/4 inch, and the 3- and 4-inch models can handle solid debris up to 1-1/4 inches. It comprises all the features known from previous Grindex dewatering pumps and adds tripled wear resistance over earlier pump generations. A two-stage impeller design provides high pumping pressures to overcome high head applications while an air valve helps keep the motor cool whenever the pump runs dry, extending the life of the unit. Grindex's SMART mo- tor surveillance protects the motor against damages due to single-phasing and over temperature and prevents it from running in the wrong direction. The S6150 handles hydraulic inputs ranging from 53 to 90 gallons per minute at pressures up to 2,500 psi and will continue to move water at heads up to 300 feet. The S6150 can handle spherical solids measuring up to 3 inches. Like all hydraulic submersibles, the S6150 offers operational features unavailable with electric submersibles and can be adjusted to run at variable speeds to match the pumping conditions. The pump can run on environmentally friendly bio-degradable oil, including vegetable oil. Write 051 on Reader Service Card or visit EquipmentWorld.com/info EquipmentWorld.com | October 2012 57
