1 SSBC's Truck Stop rear drum-to-disc hardware kit includes all the parts for an easy installation including replacement fl ex and steel brake lines. 2 The new calipers have three huge pistons to maximize pad pressure while minimizing brake pedal eff ort. Our calipers were ordered in red powder coat. Slotted aluminum rotors dissipate heat, clean the pads and vent brake pad gasses. DISC BRAKE 3 The fi rst step is to pull off the diff erential cover and drain the gear oil. (This is a good time to upgrade to a custom diff erential cover, too.) 34 PROPICKUP June 2012 4 Remove the 8mm pinion shaft lock bolt and then pull out the pinion lock shaft. CONVERT 6 Carefully slide out the axle shaft, taking care not to damage the axle seal. 5 Give each axle hub a couple hard raps inward so the "C"-clip appears in the center diff opening. Then use a magnet or pliers to remove the retainers from the axle shafts. (Note: The "C"-clip opening needs to face away from you to remove it.) 7 Once the axle shaft is out, and the brake line and emergency cables disconnected, removal of the four retaining bolts makes it easy to pull off the complete backing plate assembly.
