Here is just a sampling for summer 2018: Dinosaurs! A Jurassic Journey, the special summer exhibit at the Milwaukee County Zoo, intrigues visitors May 26-Sept. 3. Sponsored by Sendik's Food Markets, visitors can journey back in time to when dinosaurs roamed the earth. Life-size dinosaur replicas seem to roam and roar, fascinating kids of all ages. (Extra $3 charge per person) Photographing Nature's Cathedrals: Carleton E. Watkins, Eadweard Muybridge, and H. H. Bennett is featured at the Milwaukee Art Museum, May 18-Aug. 26. These artists used mammoth plate prints, panoramas, and stereographs (the cutting-edge photographic technology of their time) to capture the natural wonders of the country. See and hear Summerfest, the world's largest music festival, as it celebrates its 51st year. For 11 days, more than 800 bands play across the 11 stages featured on the permanent grounds of Henry Maier Festival Park. Enjoy alternative, rock, country, R&B, pop, reggae and more. It's happening at the lakefront June 27-July 1 and July 3-8. (Summerfest takes Monday, July 2, off.) Lakefront ethnic festivals at Henry Maier Festival Park (Summerfest grounds) celebrate the heritage of Milwaukee residents who emigrated here from Poland, Italy, Germany, Ireland and Mexico. The ethnic celebrations end with Indian Summer Festival, celebrating the Native Americans who were here to greet settlers from throughout the world. Bradford Beach, a stroll away from downtown, features great food options, family activities, live music series and volleyball leagues and tournaments. The beach is part of Milwaukee County's outstanding park system. Intriguing side trips feature great attractions in Ozaukee, Washington, and Waukesha Counties. (See the Mini Guides in this issue for more info.) On many "bucket lists" is Ten Chimneys in Genesee Depot, once home to Broadway legends Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne.
