UNCORKING PR PAUL WAGNER It also made me grateful that I wasnt in charge of sales for this winery. WINERY B My search for information on the second wine started more positively. Again, it was the same basic layout as Winery As, but happily there was a tab that offered a direct link to the wines it produced. I clicked on the tab and suddenly felt lost. Admittedly, the wine I was researching was a small production lot, but it had been entered into a major wine competition, so it was in current release. And yet there was not a single mention of it on the website. There was a page each for four different varieties, but my wine wasnt one of them. There was a tab to the more unusual wines the winery produced. Perfect! I clicked on it, only to find that my wine wasnt there, either. from the winery, and at least two I checked again, starting from the different sales promotions for the home page, and all the way through tasting room. the website. There was not an iota of information about the wine I was to present. Once again, I phoned the winery. Again, I spoke to a very nice Contact Visit Us Events Wine Shop person who told me all about this Story Our wine, and how much the winemaker enjoyed making it. She told me he had produced it for years, and always loved receiving the grapes at harvest. She told me all kinds of interesting things about this wine none of which has been posted on the website for others to see. SIGN IN BluehillCellars Valley 44. The wine shop tab gave me a list of wines, but my wine wasnt among them. I had to go back with my not-so-nimble fingers and click on one of the pull down menus to find the complete list of red wines. And there, it all its glory, was my wine. Because the wines were in alphabetical order, it was first on the list. It was merely a photo of the bottle and the price, but when I clicked on the link beneath the bottle, I was taken to a page full of information about the wine. In only three clicks! For someone in the world of distribution or sales, it must feel a bit odd to be directed to the retail sales wine shop as the only source of information about the wines. I can only assume that this is an expression of the winerys commitment to direct-to-consumer sales. WINERY D I was beginning to learn the tricks of the trade. Once again I found a commendable website that tells the winery story. And I immediately knew that my best bet was to click on the tab for the wine shop. Success! There was all the information I could possibly want, and it w w w. v w m m e d i a . c o m
