CUSTOM RIGS Best of the best By James Jaillet F or three days in August, the Great American Trucking Show in Dallas once again hosted 15 of the country's premiere show rigs as they faced off at Overdrive's Pride & Polish National Championship. The showdown completed a year's worth of building, restoring, cleaning, polishing and exhibiting at shows across the country. Also vying for show truck glory were dozens of other show and work trucks competing in the GATS Pride & Polish. The National Championship contenders qualified for their places by winning Best of Show in their category at one of the Pride & Polish events held nationwide since August 2012: the 2012 Great American Trucking Show, the 2012 PDI Dyno Event, the 2012 Charlotte Diesel Super Show, the 2013 75 Chrome Shop Show, the 2013 Great West Truck Show and the 2013 Fitzgerald Truck Show. Prior to GATS, readers voted online for their favorite truck in the National Championship series. That Truckers' Choice winner was Austin Ashley's 2007 Peterbilt 379, Double Take.
