The PL4809D has 360-degree swing capability and can handle heavy pipes with ease, placing them anywhere around the machine, unlike side-boom pipelayers. Powered by a Volvo D13H Tier 4 interim engine, the machine has a 110,000-pound max rated capacity and 226,000-pound max tipping capacity. The excavator-based design also allows the machine to be converted to an excavator by swapping the pipelayer boom for the excavator boom included in the optional digging kit. Useful for rugged terrain and inclines of up to 30 degrees, the unit has a heavy-duty mechanical slew lock that fi xes the superstructure at every 10th degree in relation to the undercarriage, protecting the trans- mission and delivering precision. A 70-percent improvement in tractive effort compared to previous models boost performance in slope work while increasing machine speed on fl at ground. Thirty-inch tracks are standard, while 36- or 41-inch tracks are available as options. The undercarriage is retractable for road transport, and newly designed undercarriage counterweights provide a low center of gravity and boost machine stability, while simplifying cleaning. Additional features include a mechanical anti two-block de- vice with wireless transmitter; high-pull winch; mode switch; load manage- ment system with wireless sensors on the hook; attachment manage- ment system and a low-vibration, low-noise cab. EASY OPERATION Honda Power Equipment's all-new EU7000is portable generator is the company's fi rst application of electronic fuel injection to a generator, which results in greater fuel effi - ciency, easy starting without the need for a choke and longer operating times than the model it replaces. Powered by a fuel-injected OHV GX390 engine, the generator produces 7,000 volt amperes of power, weighs 262 pounds and is equipped with a 5.1-gallon gas tank enabling the unit to op- erate for six hours at rated load for a 25-percent increase in runtime and 20-percent increase in fuel economy compared to the EU6500is model. Separate triple chamber combus- tion made up of an exhaust chamber, an engine chamber and an intake chamber, along with the Eco-Throttle design, the EU7000is has a 60-dB noise level at rated load. Honda's inverter technology allows the generator to provide cleaner current to power equipment in remote locations while re- ducing weight and noise. The portable unit includes a wheel kit with large semi-pneumatic tires and folding handles as standard equipment, and an iMonitor digital display has information such as hours of use, performance data, battery charging status and other on-board diagnostics.
