Because of the added deoxidants, ER70S-2 can be used for welding steels that have a rusty or dirty surface, with a possible sacrifice of weld quality depending on the condition of the surface. n nER70S-6 contains higher levels of manganese and silicon than ER70S-2 and produces high quality welds when used on dirty, oily or rusty steel. The high silicon content allows this alloy to be used in welding and brazing procedures. Silicon Bronze is best known for welding plain or galvanized steel sheet metal. Principal applications include TIG or oxy-acetylene welding of copper, copper-silicon and copper-zinc base metals to themselves and to steel. Silicon Bronze is also used for surfacing parts that may be exposed to a corrosive environment. The weld deposits of this alloy demonstrate high strength, excellent corrosion resistance and good weldability. n ERCuSi-A is a silicon deoxidized copper-based filler metal which is used to attach two pieces of metal together where strength is secondary and cosmetics are primary.
