He counts Coach Nick Saban and his wife Terry as some of his closest friends. "Coach Saban's 'mantra' for the team this year is to 'Be where your feet are.' To me, that means not getting ahead of yourself and staying in the mo- ment. There's a lot of time to think on the golf course between shots and it's key to stay in the moment." And his wife Karen and daughter Caitlin have always been his two big- gest fans and a great support to him. He also talked of his ability to close out tournaments. "I've become more comfortable win- ning and playing well in nal rounds to do so. Historically, that wasn't always the case." He is also someone who has given back to the game through junior golf in various arenas and he is passionate about sharing this great game. "I've spent my whole life learning about life through golf. It has been very good to me." Now, let's take a brief look back at Steve's more recent highlights. He has been named the Alabama STEVE HUDSON IS ENJOYING A STELLAR YEAR OF AMATEUR SENIOR GOLF Golf Association's Player of the Year three times (2004, 2009 and 2010). (Will Swift is the only other three-time winner.) It took Hudson a long time to win a State title, but once he got a taste of a statewide victory, there has been no stopping him. He captured the State Mid-Amateur Championship at Wynlakes Golf & Country Club in Montgomery in 2010. This was something he had been trying to do for almost 40 years as he rst played in an AGA championship as a 12-year-old in the State Junior. In 2010 he also quali ed for, and made the cut in, the U.S. Senior Open. In 2011 he turned right back around and won the State Senior Amateur, as well as again qualifying for the U.S. Senior Open. In 2012 he won the State Mid-Amateur again, along with 2014's State Senior, that makes four state titles in ve years and counting... Please take note of the Thompson TEES Off icon.
