www.arborage.com ARBOR AGE OCTOBER 2014 5
Rainbow Treecare Scientifi c Advancements recently held a series of fi eld day / workshop events*,
and I was lucky enough to be able to attend the first event in the Chicago suburbs. The event
received enthusiastic support as dozens of tree care professionals turned out to hear about emerald
ash borer (EAB) treatment options and techniques; get an up-close look at EAB research sites; and
view fi eld demonstrations of Rainbow Treecare application equipment.
A big part of the workshop was to hear about ArborMectin, a 4% emamectin benzoate tree-
injected insecticide from Rainbow for two-year control of key pests, such as EAB, caterpillars, and
other wood-boring insects.
According to Rainbow, ArborMectin is formulated to be more operationally effi cient and 40
to 70 percent faster than other emamectin benzoate products. ArborMectin has shown effective
control in more than a dozen ongoing research trials throughout the country. Its signal word
is CAUTION, which means it is not a restricted-use pesticide, making it simpler for tree care
professionals to buy and use it. It can be applied through any refi llable micro-injection system
such as the iQ Tree Infuser, Q-connect, Q Gun, and ArborJet systems.
During the field day, experts from Rainbow Treecare Scientific advancements showed
attendees how the proper technique leads to even and complete distribution of the product,
ensuring predictable results when protecting trees. Demonstrations included the iQ Tree Infuser,
Q-connect, Q Gun, soil probe and more.
Not only was the event informative about Rainbow's products and techniques, as well as ongoing
research regarding EAB, but it was great to get the feedback of industry professionals. Hearing stories
about what arborists are dealing with in the fi eld is always great from my perspective, as it gives me
a better feel for the questions you have and the challenges you face. Events like the one put on by
Rainbow help give tree care professionals a forum to share thoughts and stories, while learning about
how others are approaching EAB and other major pests.
* In addition to the event in the Chicago suburbs, other fi eld day / workshop events were held
in Milwaukee; Baltimore; Philadelphia; Nashville, Tenn.; Columbus, Ohio; New Jersey; Boston;
Denver; and Kansas City, Mo.
GIVING BACK
Rainbow Treecare also announced "Saluting Branches: Arborists United for Veteran
Remembrance." This industry fi eld day will be held Sept. 11, 2015, with tree care professionals
volunteering to keep veterans cemeteries safe and beautiful. This effort to give back to those who
have served our nation will take place at 133 cemeteries throughout the United States. The goal
is to have 3,000 arborists working together on the same day. To fi nd out more about this special
effort, please visit www.salutingbranches.org.
