"Now, more than ever, the garden is an extension of yourself," said Susan McCoy, president of Garden Media. "What you cultivate and grow, either inside or out, refl ects consumers' personalities and the healthy lifestyle they have chosen to live." For years, people have strived to be good stewards of the Earth. And, this year, the Garden Trends Report highlights ways in which brands are being held to even higher standards, as customers demand that products are not only reliable but have a positive impact on the planet. Brands that help consumers make positive environmental, personal and community impacts will pull ahead. "What is better than plants and garden products that help consumers feel guilt-free about their consumption?" asked McCoy. The 2015 Garden Trends Report is developed through an intensive year-long industry study. Garden Media analyzes consumer habits, monitors other industries, and interviews infl uencers and other trendspotters. "We've been studying trends since 2001," said McCoy. "Even though we've witnessed a number of industry shifts over 14 years, one thing still remains the same. Outdoor spaces are as important as any room inside." Garden Media's 2015 Garden Trends Report identifi es nine trends that work together to highlight consumers' true personalities.
