Nel has been a technical advisor in the fruit industry his entire career. Jesse, who has already devel- oped a taste for Packham pears and Golden Delicious apples, lives with his parents, Amy and Jacques Botha, on the Makgadikgadi salt pan in Botswana. "This means a very simple life, which suits us all fine," Amy wrote. "Jesse enjoys sit- ting in the garden listening and watching birds and 'botanizing.'
