Better Roads December 2014 15 Hamm Tier 4 Interim dirt roller is a single-drum vibrating compactor Hamm's H 25i VC Tier 4 Interim dirt roller is a single-drum vibrating compactor out- fi tted with teeth that will shatter concrete more effectively – and at lower cost – than special-purpose guillotine, "fi nger" or ultrasonic concrete breakers. The teeth or tools on the H 25i VC drum allow the compactor to simultaneously crush and compact a whole variety of construction materials and minerals. A patented quick-change tool holder system makes it possible to use very different tools. These specially developed point-attack cutting tools are ideal for crushing or relieving stress from stone, as well as for preparing tracks through rock. But they also can be fi tted with special padfoot shells, which transform the VC compactor into a padfoot roller. The design of the quick-change tool holders is both sophisticated and ergonomically functional. It en- sures that tools can be replaced quickly, minimizes the tendency to retain debris, and can be cleaned without diffi culty, Hamm says. betterroads.com/hamm-dirt-roller Wirtgen W 250i cold-milling machine Wirtgen debuted its W 250i cold-milling machine at ConExpo-Con/ Agg in March this year. The company's largest cold-milling machine, the W 250i has an extra-large milling drum; a working width of 12 feet, 6 inches; a camera system; a Vacuum Cutter System (VCS); a dual-engine concept; and three milling drum speed options. The W 250i has a milling depth of up to 14 inches on asphalt surfaces, can remove hard concrete at a high advance rate and has the ability to remove complete roadway sections in a single pass. The machine features a dual engine. betterroads.com/new-road-products-36 Asphalt Drum Mixers asphalt plants with single-drum counterfl ow technology Asphalt Drum Mixers (ADM) has introduced its EX Series asphalt plants, which feature single-drum counterfl ow technology. Available in a portable or stationary version, the plant is designed for low to medium production applications and features a compact design. The machine, which produces 100 to 425 tons per hour, uses counterfl ow technology to separate drying and mixing zones, increasing the level of heat transfer and fuel effi ciency. The system reduces hydrocarbon emissions by reintroducing residual gases back to the drum's combustion zone. The plant offers simple operation and maintenance. The system requires just two operators – one plant operator and one loader operator – and is designed to allow on-site staff to handle most breakdown issues. Available individual components for the EX Series asphalt plants include cold feed bins, hot oil asphalt cement tanks (both horizontal and vertical), direct-fi red horizontal cement tanks, portable and stationary bag houses, mineral fi ller systems, RAP systems, self-erect and stationary silos, weigh and drag conveyors, weigh batchers and fuel oil tanks. betterroads.com/adm-ex-series Dexter + Chaney Project Plan Room app delivers documents to jobsite Construction software provider Dexter + Chaney has unveiled a new mobile app that aims to improve collaboration between the offi ce and the jobsite. The Project Plan Room app allows users to send con- struction documents, data and project information in real time to workers' mobile devices on the jobsite. Users can view documents online or offl ine, view up-to-date information and zoom in on doc- uments. An Internet connection is only necessary for synchronizing with the company's Spectrum Construction Software for updates or new document versions. The app is available for Android and Apple devices and Windows Surface tablets. betterroads.com/project-plan-room
