made at the Delegates Meeting where three new members were voted to the NGWA Board of Directors. "After seven years of conference calls, discussions, and document review, you have no idea how gratifying it was to go to the 2014 Expo and actually have the ANSI/NGWA-01-14 Water Well Construction Standard," says Kathy Butcher, CMP, NGWA professional development director. "It represents the collective wisdom and experience of our entire industry, as well as a commitment to protecting pub- lic health and good stewardship of the groundwater resource." Jonathan Sarich, CEM, environmen- tal scientist for Stanley Consultants Inc. in Las Vegas, Nevada, was able to attend the Expo while also working with a client who needed to drill through the week. He values learning about new products as well as the networking opportunities at the Expo. Sarich found the water quality infor- mation he was seeking from In-Situ Inc., a manufacturer of environmental equipment for monitoring the quantity and quality of groundwater and surface water based in Ft. Collins, Colorado. He also received a better understanding of Geoprobe Systems' new technology, including sonic drilling. "I learned how to collect soil samples and cores from Geoprobe at its booth, which was awesome," Sarich says. "(A Geoprobe staff member) walked me through exactly how to get to the depth you want, put in your screen inter- val, and pull a sample right from what- ever interval you're at. That was pretty interesting. That was unexpected. He gave me all the contacts I need back at his office as well as information about other systems coming out, which I didn't know about and is exactly what we need." The 2015 NGWA Groundwater Expo and Annual Meeting will take place December 15-17 in Las Vegas. Visit www.GroundwaterExpo.com for more information. The new rig in the SonicSampDrill booth drew attention both days the exhibit hall was open.
